An Astelle living room with a column, full-height balcony doors, and oversized windows opening onto the Mott Haven streetscape

The residences

Homes drawn around the long Bronx light.

One hundred and twenty-four residences, one through three bedrooms, composed by Fischer Makooi in brick, glass, and warm oak above Mott Haven.

The design

Architecture you can live inside.

Fischer Makooi drew The Astelle in the language of its neighborhood: red brick, deep window reveals, and balconies that step out over the street on select homes. The building reads as part of Mott Haven, and lifts it.

Inside, the palette is warm and quiet: wide-plank oak floors, stone-look countertops, and tile drawn from the same restrained register. Stainless appliances, a dishwasher, central air, and an in-home washer and dryer are standard, so the design holds together from the entry to the last closet.

Every layout is set against the windows. Rooms are oriented to hold the long South Bronx light from morning through dusk, and the glass is sized to let it in: the architecture and the daily life of the home drawn as one move.

The collection

From the one-bedroom to the three-bedroom.

Three kinds of home, one design language. Each is drawn for the way its rooms catch the light and the way a day moves through them.

A one-bedroom at The Astelle with two oversized windows overlooking treetops and the South Bronx

One-bedroom

A bedroom held apart from the living room, with oversized windows that open onto treetops and the low South Bronx horizon. Warm oak underfoot, central air, and quiet through the day.

A two-bedroom at The Astelle with full-height balcony doors opening onto a brick Mott Haven streetscape

Two-bedroom

Two bedrooms drawn off the living space, one opening through full-height doors onto a Juliet balcony above the brick streetscape. Room to spread out without losing the light.

Three-bedroom

The largest homes, drawn for the long view. Select three-bedrooms step out onto a private balcony over Mott Haven, where the brick rowhouses and the rising skyline sit side by side.
