Room to breathe
More green than you would guess
Mott Haven reads as dense city blocks, but the open space is closer than it looks. St. Mary's Park, the largest in the South Bronx, sits a short walk inland; the Randall's Island Connector carries you on foot or by bike to hundreds of acres of riverfront fields; and the Harlem River edge is slowly becoming a waterfront you can actually use. Three different kinds of outdoors, all within reach of the door.

Where to go
Three ways outside
- The Harlem River waterfront
- The Harlem River runs along the western and southern edge of the neighborhood, and the city's long effort to reclaim that edge as a public greenway is steadily taking shape. It is a work in progress rather than a finished esplanade, but the direction is clear, and the Connector and the Madison Avenue Bridge already make the water something you can reach.
